ASTRO DOG’S PERSEID METEOR SHOWER VIDEO FOOTAGE SHOWN ON MAIN PAGE OF THE BBC NEWS WEBSITE AND HAS NOW HAD THOUSANDS OF VIEWS! 🙀🎥💖🌠✨️
We had already been treated to views of many incredible meteors in the last couple of weeks. However, the night of the 12th of August was the peak night of the amazing Perseid meteor shower, so we were very excited to head out under the night sky to see what we could see.
Given skies were fairly clear, we decided to head out on a little celestial adventure to the North York Moors to try and capture some photographs and video footage of the meteors.
A little before we set off we received a message from a journalist at the BBC News who had seen our posts about the meteor shower and wanted to know if we would be able to provide them with video footage of the Perseids if we were lucky enough to capture any, and we were more than happy to say yes.
We had an amazing night and observed many incredible Perseid meteors blazing across the night/early morning skies, including some super bright fireballs! We had several cameras shooting timelapses and also a camera shooting video, and our upon reviewing our video footage we were very happy to see that we had captured LOTS of meteors.
After sifting through several hours of video footage and isolating all the meteors we captured, we sent our footage to the BBC, and this morning we were delighted to find that our footage had been used in an article on the BBC News website about the Perseid shower. Not only this, it was featured on the front page of the BBC and is now one of the most watched videos on the site this week with over 157,000 views!

We still haven’t gone through all the video footage that we captured, and we might put together our own little video about our celestial adventure at some point soon.
