We're thrilled to be taking part in the Coble Market at Scarborough Market on Sunday 12th July! We'll be bringing our special solar telescope, space-themed gift shop, and throughout the day will be running solar observing sessions, live night sky tours using planetarium software, and chatting about all things astronomy.
This event is free to attend — no ticket required! Donations are welcome and help support our venture. 🙏
☀️ Solar Observing | 11:30am – 1:30pm
Come and safely observe the Sun through our special solar telescope! It's a rare chance to see our nearest star up close and observe its fascinating surface features including sunspots, filaments and prominences. Our friendly experienced astronomers will be on hand to teach you what you're looking at, what features to look out for, and what it all means. We'll also be talking about the upcoming solar eclipse on 12th August a special celestial event you won't want to miss!
*Weather permitting. If the skies aren't cooperating, we'll head straight inside for talks!

After solar observing, join us inside the Market Vaults for an immersive session using planetarium software. We'll be giving live night sky tours and sharing the best upcoming celestial events to look out for. Got questions about astronomy, astrophotography, or the aurora? Bring them along, we'd love to chat!

We'll be on hand to explain everything you're seeing and we'll be talking about the upcoming solar eclipse on 12th August, so you can be fully prepared for one of nature's most spectacular events. Weather permitting — if the skies aren't clear, we'll head inside for talks instead.

Head into the Market Vaults for an immersive journey through the universe. Using planetarium software, we'll take you on a live virtual tour of the night sky, highlight the best upcoming celestial events, and answer all your questions about astronomy, astrophotography, and the aurora. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned stargazer, there's something for everyone.
